My Top Echo for Zani: Capitaneus Farming Guide
Capitaneus Echo perfectly matches Zani's Spectro Frazzle and Heavy Attack DMG; farm all 21 in Avinoleum.
Ever since I started playing Wuthering Waves, I've been a bit of a casual grinder. But when Zani dropped, I knew I had to step up my game big time. Zani’s kit revolves around Spectro Frazzle and Heavy Attack DMG, and finding the perfect Echo for her was a real headache. That’s when Capitaneus came into the spotlight—and honestly, it’s a total game-changer. I’d heard whispers that a Cost-3 Elite Echo could outshine the usual Cost-4s for her, and after some testing, I’m a believer.
Capitaneus is an Elite class Cost-3 Echo you can find in Rinascita, more precisely all over Avinoleum. It belongs to the Gusts of Welkin and Eternal Radiance Sonata Effects, which alone makes it pretty sweet for elemental builds. But the real magic is its main Echo skill. The description looks intimidating at first: it deals multiple hits of Spectro Frazzle DMG and Heavy Attack DMG, scaling off Zani’s Forte Circuit. I mean, seriously—how often does a Cost-3 Echo align this perfectly with a character’s core damage? It’s like Kuro Games designed it just for her.

Before I get into the farming locations, a quick heads‑up: you can also run into a Phantom Capitaneus while exploring Avinoleum. It’s an Echo skin, not a separate Echo—skills are identical, so don’t lose your marbles thinking you found a rare variant. I definitely did at first, and my squad still makes fun of me for it.
So, how many Capitaneus can you hunt down? There are a whopping 21 spawns scattered across Avinoleum in Rinascita. I set aside an afternoon to clear them all, and boy, was it a journey. Here’s a breakdown of where to find them, straight from my own hoofing-it-around experience.
Tower of Salvation and Its Outskirts
I started at the Tower of Salvation. There are four Capitaneus around this majestic structure. One is chilling right at the base—an easy pick. After smashing it, I headed south toward the waterway between the Tower of Salvation and the Titular Repository: Ruins. The other two require a bit of flight; just head west from the main Avinoleum structure and you’ll spot them. Pro tip: use your glider to hop between floating rocks, it saves a tonne of time.

Path of Bestowal & Tower of Ascension
Next, I teleported to the Resonance Beacon in the Path of Bestowal. There are two Capitaneus here, both pretty close to the beacon. Follow the map and they’re a piece of cake. After bagging those, I made my way to the Tower of Ascension for another Echo, then flew west for the eighth Capitaneus in the wild. Honestly, the scenery here is breathtaking—almost makes the grind feel less grindy.

Hall of Swordsmanship Ruins: The Jackpot
If you’re looking to stockpile Capitaneus quickly, the Hall of Swordsmanship Ruins is your haven. There are nine—yes, nine—spawns here. I started at the Resonance Beacon inside the hall, went north to clobber two, then returned and headed east. The remaining seven are clustered around the ruins, so you can chain battles without much downtime. Bring your best AoE setup and watch them melt.

Tower of Unity & Zargon Garden Ruins
Finally, I teleported to the Tower of Unity beacon and sailed south for one Capitaneus. Then I hopped over to the floating island in the east for another. After that, the Zargon Garden: Ruins beacon is your next stop—head northwest from it for a spawn. The grand finale? Fly northeast from the garden up to the island above it for the last Capitaneus of the route. It’s a bit of a trek, but totally worth it.

One thing that drove me up the wall was the main stat RNG. Since Capitaneus is a Cost-3 Echo, you can’t just brute-force a desired main stat by farming the same spot over and over like you do with Cost-4s. Instead, you’ve got to clear every spawn available each day. If you’re unlucky and keep getting DEF% when you’re chasing Spectro DMG Bonus, don’t pull your hair out. Use the Echo Modifier—it lets you reroll the main stat directly. I burned through a few of those, but my Zani is now hitting like a truck.
By the way, if you’re just after the Sonata effect for a 2-piece set, the skill itself doesn’t matter. So, if you find a Capitaneus with god-tier substats but a garbage main stat, you can still slap it on as an off-piece and keep farming for the perfect main one. Flexibility, right?
In 2026, Capitaneus remains a staple for any half-decent Zani build. It’s one of those rare cases where a Cost-3 Echo steals the show from the usual 4-cost behemoths. My advice? Block out an hour, follow the route I just laid out, and pray to the RNG gods. Once you lock in that Spectro DMG main stat with a couple of crit rolls, you’ll see Zani obliterate content. Happy hunting, and may your echoes drop gold!
