Wuthering Waves Phantom Echoes: My Shiny Hunter's Field Guide
Phantom Tacet Discords and Phantom Echoes in Wuthering Waves offer rare skins; find spawn locations and equip them for unique looks.
Let me be honest: I have spent more time chasing Phantom Tacet Discords in Wuthering Waves than I have actually building my characters properly. These Phantom Echoes—affectionately called Shiny Echoes because the community refuses to let Pokémon go—are cosmetic makeovers that give your normal Echoes an entirely different look. If you’ve ever seen a Lightcrusher shimmering like it just won a fashion contest, that’s a Phantom skin in action. Below, I’m sharing how to equip them, where the overworld spawns are, and which shops you need to empty.
How to Actually Equip a Phantom Tacet Discord
If an Echo has a Phantom skin available, look at the bottom right corner of its card. There is a small icon there just waiting to be clicked. Click it, and you will be taken to a preview screen.

On the next screen, you will see the Phantom Echo you can apply. The best part? You can apply that shiny look to multiple Echoes of the same type. If you already have that Phantom equipped on one character, do not panic—it can still be equipped on any other character. This is a skin, not a single-use sticker.

Overworld Phantom Echo Locations
According to my very serious field notes from Version 1.1, the original pool included 8 Phantom Tacet Discords: 4 from the overworld and 4 from events and activities. The overworld ones spawn at fixed locations and reset after the server daily reset. So if you miss one, come back tomorrow like a responsible gacha gremlin.
-
Phantom: Lightcrusher — This one has two possible spawn spots because it enjoys making me run around Mt. Firmament.
-
North of Loong’s Rest in Mt. Firmament.
-
North of Tianqu Tree in Mt. Firmament.
If the first spot is empty, check the second. If both are empty, it has not reset yet or you already grabbed it.

- Phantom: Clang Bang — You can find this one on the platform below the highest point of Loong’s Crest. Teleport to the Resonance Beacon near Yue at the top of Loong’s Crest, then glide down slowly until you reach the mouth of that dragon-looking mountain. Do not nose-dive unless you want to become a very shiny pancake.

- Turtle-adjacent Phantom — This spawns near the weekly turtle boss in Tolling Stream, and along the riverbank near Thorny Passage. I do not make the rules; the turtle does.

- Rocksteady Guardian Phantom — This one hangs out near the Tower of Adversity and the Withering Frontline, close to the Thundering Mephis boss. Great place to get zapped while admiring a cosmetic upgrade.

Event and Activity Phantom Skins
The other four Phantom Tacet Discords require you to actually engage with endgame systems. Clear Tower of Adversity and Depths of Illusive Realm, then exchange the currencies. Here is the shopping list:
| Phantom Source | Cost | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Depths of Illusive Realm | 400 Illusive Specimen | Clear Difficulty IV |
| Points Shop – Adversity Exchange | 120 Hazard Record | Obtain 1,200 Hazard Records in total |
| Points Shop – Simulation Training Store | 300 Data Set | Obtain 2,500 Data Sets in total |
| Points Shop – Simulation Training Store | 300 Data Set | Obtain 3,500 Data Sets in total |
Yes, you read that correctly: there are two separate Phantom skins in the Simulation Training Store, and you need to hit both cumulative Data Set thresholds to unlock them. Your Data Sets will feel very used.
Collector Tips from a Slightly Unhinged Player
-
Check both Lightcrusher locations daily. Spawns reset after the server daily reset.
-
Set a farming route: Mt. Firmament → Loong’s Crest → Tolling Stream → Tower of Adversity.
-
Do not spend Illusive Specimens on random goodies if you are shiny hunting. Priorities.
-
Remember: Phantom skins are cosmetic. They do not boost stats. But losing a fight while looking fabulous is still a win in my book.
At the end of the day, collecting Phantom Echoes is about flexing on your friends and confusing enemies with a Lightcrusher that looks like it bought the premium battle pass. Whether you are gliding off Loong’s Crest or getting roasted by Thundering Mephis, these Shiny Echoes are worth the chaos. Now go touch some grass in Mt. Firmament and come back with a shiny turtle.
