Sentinel's Statue was my first viewpoint, and it only asks for progression from Act 1 Chapter 1. The icon sits near the guardian statue, and the view is a good introduction to how photo spots work.

Falling Streams and Raindrops of the Past can be found while exploring the waterways. They do not need special quest completion, but the scenery still made me stop for a moment. City of Jinzhou, Safety first!, and Mt. Pingting are also straightforward if you watch for the glowing icon.

Then there are the quest-locked viewpoints. Sky Incinerated may require completing The Eternal Concert side quest because the sky itself changes. Weightless Skyscrapers is tied to We Promise, We Deliver, while Luminous Petals only appears after When the Forest is No Longer Dim. I walked into those areas too early during my first playthrough and saw nothing but empty scenery.

Moon within Reach is one of my favorites because it requires When Moonlight Shines in the Forest. The moonlight effect makes the photo spot feel earned. Ruins of the Old Days needs Union Level 17 and the Depths of Illusive Realm prelude, so do not waste time looking for it before then.

Daybreak comes after Stygian Lacrimosa, and the dawn light only makes sense after that quest. Eternal Blue is a more open coastal viewpoint. Warblade in Norfall Barrens is the final story-gated one for many players because it asks for Union Level 21 and completion of Act 1 Chapter 6, Grandwarstorm.

Once you unlock a viewpoint, the icon appears on the map near a scenic spot. Interact with it to register the photo and claim the exploration progress. I always collect the progress reward at the Pioneer's Association afterward. If a viewpoint is not showing, check quest completion and Union Level first. As of 2026, these photo spots still matter for exploration in Huanglong, and tracking them down was one of the most satisfying parts of my run.
